Info

We are off to St. Petersburg for a debut EP from Unclepasha. Talk about cramming influences in an EP, The skilful Russian melts disco, jazz, funk, rock, pop, soul all into one. We have a hard time putting a tag on this music but we loved it so much we just had to put it out there.

Things open up with the nifty instrumental version of "Spirit Free", jazz-toned slapped back double bass, 1999 prog drums, Van McCoy noodles, ping pong Grand Pianos and Latin Percussion. Yup its all there... "No" we don't know how to describe it. Next up is Bududut which is low-slung funk, ploddy basslines and Rhodes-jazzer keys.

The EP title track "Grapevine" is a cover of the Marvin Gaye classic but strips the tune back to the bassline and builds proceedings into a dancefloor monster.

Things round off with the vocal version of "Spirit Free" which features UK based Michelle Bee getting very spiritual and funky at the same time.
