Back in 2011 Dublin's Lasertom released a staggering 12" on Bearfunk Records as Lasertom and the Blast Crew. Fast forward to 2013 and we've nabbed the Irish muso for a highly anticipated release with us here at Nang. Lasertom makes laid-back, slo-mo disco with real instruments (bass, guitar, brass) in a style which just oozes quality.
Title track 'Call' kick's off with soaring synth tones that meld into a dusty, clap-heavy disco beat before a neon bass line enter's the fray and flips the track up on it's head. Add some vocal snippets of 'Call' and a glacial breakdown or two and you've got something that's pure class.
On the remix front we've got Volta Cab's 808 Mix up first. Apart from the obvious use of aforementioned drum machine, Volta Cab introduce some funky organ chops and squelching bass tones to sleaze up the original a treat. next up, we've got 90's legends Tilt delivering a solid groover, with a stomping synth bass throughout that's sure to get floors frenzied in those transitional moments.
To finish the package Evol Ai, a relatively new addition to the Nang roster, strikes home strong and true with his silky nu-disco rendition. As usual, he's got textures and sounds coming at you from all angles but keeps proceedings smooth and tasty.
