Young, London based Scotsman Architeq (AKA Sam Annand) and his "Gold + Green" album was one of the highlights of the Tirk year in 2009. The organic buzz that surrounds his unique brand of dubby, swingy, electronic funk shows no sign of abating.
Ilija Rudman surprises us all with a fine vocal contribution on "Mind Games" the latest single excursion from the long player. The Hungarian producer is probably best known for his disco productions on labels such as Bearfunk, Solardisco, Rong and his own Red label. Obviously one talented individual as his laid back slightly-menacing vocal sits perfectly on top of Sams twisted synthesizers.
The vinyl features a new Sam vinyl version as well as two other remixes. First up is fellow Dundee producer "Samoyed" with his pad-laden Eletronica and spacey effected remix.
Emperor Machine (AKA Andy Meecham) member of Chicken Lips and now co-owner of the Lips Service label is next up. The DC Musical overlord deploys his analog synthesizer collection for fine effect. Andy takes proceedings in a burbling dub direction.
This one is definitely made to be played loud.
Stay tuned for more Architeq later in the year, however for now "Mind Games" is another quality installment in the Sam Annand story.
